Microsoft Releases April 2017 Security Updates

Microsoft has released 61 updates to address vulnerabilities in Microsoft software. Exploitation of some of these vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to take control of a system. This Security Update addresses a Microsoft Office vulnerability that is actively being exploited to spread malicious code.

US-CERT encourages users and administrators to review Vulnerability Note #VU921560 and Microsoft’s April 2017 Security Update and apply the necessary updates.

Security Alert: IC3 Issues Alert on IoT Devices

If you have any kind of TV or other such devices (even refridgerators!) connected to or are planning to connect them to the internet read what the FBI recently put out. Note that “UPnP” is basically a method where devices such as TVs, cameras and phones (for example) can automatically configure themselves to transmit data via the internet once connected to your router. If your router has UPnP turned on, this will be allowed to happen. Read on for more info (very enlightening)
